So, you booked that costume, made it out the group chat, and you’re finally heading to BIM? Crop Over 2025 is calling, and Barbados isn’t just giving carnival—it’s giving food, fun, and full vacation energy. Whether you’re from London, Toronto, or Port of Spain, here’s your pre-road rundown to make the most of your time in Rihanna’s homeland. 💅🏽🇧🇧

🛬 Touchdown Tips: Flights, Cash & Getting Connected
You’ll be landing at Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI). Book your flights early—Crop Over is a high-demand season, especially for UK and Canadian girlies.
Currency game: The Barbadian Dollar (BBD) is typically:
2:1 for USD
~2.5:1 for GBP
~2.2:1 for EUR
~1.5:1 for CAD. Hit the airport cambio for safe exchanges and get enough for taxis, food, and vibes. Around $300 BBD should hold you.
Get connected: Buy an eSIM before you land using apps like Airalo or Holafly. Roaming? We don’t do that here.
Transportation: No Uber, but plenty of ZR vans, taxis, and for extra flair—rent a pastel-colored MOKE car for the week. Super Instagrammable.
🏠 Where to Drop Your Bags
If you're not driving, stay central:
The Gap (St. Lawrence Gap): Heart of the nightlife and easy walk to food, beach, and bars.
Rockley/Accra Beach: Chill vibes, good beach access, near to everything.
Oistins: More local, with that Friday Fish Fry energy.
🍴 What to Eat (And Where to Find It)
Bajans don’t play with food. Here’s your Crop Over plate:
National Dish: Cou Cou and Flying Fish
Must-do: Oistins Fish Fry on Friday night. Seafood grilled fresh, live music, vibes for days.
Late night eats: Hit St. Lawrence Gap for street food—jerk, doubles, grilled chicken.
Cheffette: Fast food chain but local rite of passage. Their rotis? Bless.
Mount Gay & Cockspur Rum: Local and legendary. Mount Gay even has a distillery tour.

🎉 Crop Over: Events You Don’t Wanna Miss
Foreday Morning: Their version of J’ouvert—paint, mud, soca at sunrise.
Kadooment Day: Crop Over’s main parade. Costumes, feathers, soca, and sun. It's a cultural reset.
🐚 Beyond the Road: Explore Barbados
Don’t sleep on Barbados beyond the parade:
Harrison’s Cave – Underground beauty.
Animal Flower Cave – Coastal wonder with natural pools.
Watch for monkeys – Wild ones roam, and yes, they’re cute (from a distance).
Rihanna Drive – Yup, Queen Rih has her own street. Worth the detour.
Accra Beach – Great for sunbathing or a morning sea dip.
💅🏽 Glam Game Strong (If That’s Your Vibe)
